Upon arriving at the Portage stop, you will board a shuttle bus to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Centre, where you will spend 90 minutes exploring the area with a knowledgeable guide. During this time, you will learn about the animals that are rehabilitated at the center, the care they receive, and the circumstances that led them to be in the center's care. You can choose to explore this section of the tour on foot or in a small vehicle, giving you an incredible opportunity to get up close and personal with bears, moose, bison, and other wild animals.

After a delicious lunch break, you'll board the train and journey to the wild backcountry of the Chugach National Forest.
