Glacier paddle and trek

The canoe trip was awesome! The ice cave was incredible! To walk on the glacier was a great experience. Perhaps some interesting facts about glaciers would perhaps be a good thing next time.

Best part of our trip in Alaska!

This tour was the best part of our trip in Alaska. Very friendly and knowledgeable guides. We originally thought that each of us will have a separate canoe, but it turned up that there were 8 of us per canoe. That didn't make us enjoy it any less. Brilliant excursion and you can get so close to the glacier with such a small effort. I highly recommend!

Glacier climb

We were under the impression we were going to go in an ice caves, but that was not the case, we climbed the glacier, and canoe 2.5 miles each way, which was very tiring. You better be in shape but for $300 per person I don't think it was worth it cause the only reason we took the excursion cause of the ice caves. Disappointed no ice caves.

Extraordinary

I would have rated this higher if I could. Starting from the beginning, I worked with Jeremy to book the trek. He made sure I understood how challenging the trip would be. I met the group at the designated location - off we went in a van to the warehouse to be outfitted. Every detail has been considered for comfort and safety. All new - or almost new - gear. Once outfitted, we went out to the lake, walked a bit and started paddling our canoes to the Glacier. The sights were beautiful. Our guides - Corey, Miles, Kate and Jake - were knowledgeable, cheerful, helpful and delightful. We reached shore and carefully worked out way up to the Glacier - our guides watching out for us. While the walk is not difficult, it is challenging because of the gravel and dirt making it difficult to get sure-footed. We came upon the Ice Cave. We were given the option to enter or not as there was concern rocks would fall from above - even though we had helmets. There was no way that I was going to miss this opportunity of a lifetime and I am so very glad that I did not miss it! It was brilliant being inside the cave with the blue light reflecting through the ice, the river flowing through. Peaceful. Beautiful. Primal. Brilliant. We stayed about a half hour and started our trek with our cleats on the Glacier. Scary but, again, an experience not to be missed. If you can do it, do it. You will remember this forever. Kudos to all the team for making this a safe and memorable trek. Tip well. They deserve it.

Mendenhall Glacier Paddle/Exploration -Best Ever!!

We knew if this excursion was all that we thought it would be it would be a once in a lifetime experience and it didn't disappoint. We were originally scheduled to paddle kayaks but due to our ships late arrival our guides determined it would be better for us to switch to canoe's so we could make the paddle quicker. The paddle across the glacier lake was absolutely beautiful with icebergs floating by, the glacier and a waterfall in the background. Our guides Jake and Katie were very knowledgable and provided us with interesting lessons in geology, biology and history during the paddle. We were outfitted (rain gear, boots, backpacks, safety gear )at the shop before heading to the lake and my kids especially loved the individual snack bags with everything from hummus and carrots to chocolate bars - great for refueling after the paddle. Once we arrived on the shore beside the glacier we had a short hike up to the glacier and then put on our crampons and walked out onto the glacier. I felt like the guides were very cautious and ensured our safety at all times, during one point of the hike the guides discussed and decided to change routes due to the glacier shifting slightly since the prior day. My wife is a little scared of heights and Katie was awesome with keeping her relaxed during the hike and even hanging back with her a few times until she had the confidence built up to move on. The views on the glacier were absolutely beautiful, breathtaking. To top off an amazing time on the glacier we were able to go inside of an ice cave and it was amazing - the blue light in the ice was like nothing i have ever seen. Of all the excursions we have taken - even in warm water destinations - this one was the most memorable of them all. We all felt like we'd had the opportunity to do something truly special...I can't recommend this excursion, the company, or our guides enough!
